The proclamation is set in Latin and English, side by side, enrolling the bearer in Legio X Equestris under the golden eagle.
Each certificate carries its own reference in the old registry style, from NO. AQ onward, so that no two are quite alike. The date beneath it is written the way Rome wrote dates: Roman numerals, and a Latin month in capitals.
The certificate names a souvenir plot in the Roman Campagna, the farmed country outside the walls of Rome.
It closes with the hand of the aquilifer, the eagle bearer, "Pro Legione X", beneath the coordinates of Rome itself.
